Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire

Near Twycross village in Leicestershire about 3 miles from the border with Warwickshire is the Twycross Zoo. The 80 acre zoo with 200 different animal species and over 1000 animals on exhibit has been open since May 1963, nearly 50 years.

The are two ticket price levels at Twycross, one that is 10 percent higher than the other. The 10 percent price difference is used in conservation work performed by the zoo.

Within these two levels there are a range of prices depending on the party.

Twycross Zoo is open everyday of the year excluding Christmas.

The zoo opens everyday at 10 a.m.

During winter hours the zoo closes at 4p.m. - 31st October 2010 2010 to 27th March 2011

During summer hours the zoo closes at 5:30p.m. - 28th March 2011 to 24th October 2011

Kayal at 153 Granby Street in Leicester has serves South Indian cuisine including seafood. Kayal receives good reviews and has won many awards including being named one of the Top 10 Indian Restaurants by The Times in 2008.

The focus of the menu at Kayal is to be authentic to the flavors one would find in the foods served in the South Indian state of Kerala. To accomplish this, Kayal employs chefs from Kerala that make use of traditional Indian spices in the production of curries and other dishes. Such spices include pepper, cardamom, cloves, turmeric, ginger, chillies and mustard.

Nenthraka Varuthathu
Banana slices seasoned with turmeric water and deep fried.

Mix Seafood Curry
King fish, squid, mussels, and prawns cooked with Kerala spices, onion, mango, ginger, garlic and mustard seeds

Masala Dosa/Paper Masala Dosa

This is perhaps the most famous South Indian Brahmin dish. A rice and lentil pancake with a traditional filling of seasoned potatoes, onions and peas.
